One Single Word To Define 2018 (PRODUCE)
In 2016 my focus was on growing my author/publisher REACH. We grew fast and furious so it became a little overwhelming. That’s why in 2017 I my focus word became STREAMLINE. I spent the year eliminating the things I that didn’t serve my personal vision of the author career I wanted, cutting back on things that put too much pressure on my health, and creating systems to make it easier to maintain things going forward. And, while there’s still a long way to go and more streamlining still to do I’m in a much better place now, feeling excited about the future.
That’s where my word for 2018 comes in.
Can you think of one single word that could define what you hope to achieve in 2018?
This year, my word is: PRODUCE
I’m turning my focus on production. I want to produce lots of books across my three author names. I want to grow my catalogues, and release new content more frequently. Production also includes taking the books already in my catalogue and releasing them in alternative mediums, such as audio books and print-on-demand. But mostly, this year is about producing the words. It means focusing on finishing the projects already in my queue and getting them to market.
This involves developing healthy and productive writing habits. It includes building systems to streamline my daily habits and make production part of my lifestyle. It involves building a writing routine where I produce new words every single day. I’ll be tracking my production and working to increase my consistency and total daily word averages. This may mean exploring dictation because my arthritis and bipolar both prevent me getting to my desk sometimes so I’d love to be able to continue to ‘write’ while on bedrest. I’ll be looking at, and considering, all the ways to promote high production rates in a healthy way. Because with healthy writing habits I’ll be able to produce lots of books.
And of course, with these new products I hope to continue to reach new readers. This involves producing content for my mailing lists. It also includes creating adverts to promote my lists and the lead magnets that will hopefully encourage subscriptions. Producing new books means discovering new readers and growing my list. It will hopefully also lead to more reviews and true, interactive fans.
After seeing the power of the one word in 2016 and 2017 I’m really looking forward to seeing it in action through 2018.
So, what will you produce this year? And what is your One Word for 2018?
